Content

Topics, Interests, and Best for aren’t decoration. Chosen well, your Cyprus4People card speaks to the right people. Filled at random, matching gets muddy — for you and for whoever is searching.

Why tags aren’t decoration

People filter by theme, affinity, and “who it’s for.” Your card only enters those filters if the signals are true and few.

Marking everything “just in case” doesn’t make you more visible — it makes you harder to tell apart.

For the three-axis model (what / affinity / who for), see the Doc Topics, Interests, and Best for — how they work. Here: how to choose them as a publisher.

Three levers, three questions

Before you touch the fields, answer:

  • Topics — What is this activity about? Typical on a Business card: real themes (food, family, remote…) — not slogans.
  • Interests — (If shown) what connects people and context? Only when it fits; don’t use Interests instead of Best for.
  • Best for — Who is this offer ideal for? Real segments: kids/families, relocators, locals…

Rule: one specific, honest choice beats five vague ones.

Sensible choice examples

Neighbourhood café

  • Topics: food / local community — the ones that are actually true
  • Best for: locals, kids, or digital nomads — only if you really serve them
  • Avoid: every Best for “in case someone shows up”

Studio / professional service

  • Topics: the theme of the service, not a wish list
  • Best for: who looks for that service (expats, entrepreneurs, …) — 1–3 max
  • Avoid: Topics that describe your hobbies if the card is a Business

Shop or visitor-facing service

  • Best for: tourists / expats only if that’s the real focus
  • Topics: aligned with what you sell, not “all of Cyprus”

Use the terms you see in forms and filters — don’t invent labels outside the product.

Typical mistakes

  • Too many tags — weak signal
  • Too generic — “for everyone” = for no one
  • Mixing levers — Interests instead of Best for, Topics as a bio
  • False promises — Best for that don’t match the offer (it’s obvious on the card)
  • Copy-paste from another business without rethinking who you serve

Checklist

  • I can say in one sentence who the card is for
  • Topics = what it’s about, not filler
  • Best for = 1–3 true choices
  • No “select all”
  • I’ve checked archive filters: with my tags, would I find myself?

Outcome

You know how to choose Topics, Interests, and Best for so matching on Cyprus4People helps the people who should find you — instead of confusing them.

FAQ

How many Best for should I add?

Few. Two right ones beat eight vague ones.

They can feel close, but they answer different questions. When unsure: theme → Topics; ideal audience → Best for.

The logic applies across card types. Examples here start from Business because that’s the most common publisher case.

Only if the form offers them and they make sense. Don’t use them as a shortcut for “who it’s for” — that stays Best for. On Profile, Interests matter more.

Pick the closest true one. Don’t pile weak Topics to compensate: one honest theme beats five approximations.

When the offer changes (menu, service, audience). A review after early feedback or messages keeps tags from going stale versus what you do today.
