Intro

Overview

A wide sand beach stretches several kilometres between capes on the Karpaz, split by a low hill and a bare dune. It is an important nesting shore for sea turtles; camping on the beach and in the protection belt is forbidden. Come for the walk and the swim, leave the dunes and nests alone, and take every scrap of rubbish with you. Night stays and fires belong elsewhere. This is the Karpaz / Famagusta village coast, a long drive from Agia Napa or Nicosia and far from the east-coast resort strip. You arrive by car through village roads; allow time. Expect a quiet, self-sufficient swim: shade, water, and food come with you unless you can see a kiosk on the day. Summer heat is sharp on open shore — mornings and late afternoon are kinder. Check the sea before you go in. Leave dunes and nests alone where you see them, and take every scrap of rubbish with you.
