You arrive by car from the district roads, then walk short approaches to the water edge or dam crest when access is open. Viewing access is usually free; some sites charge for parking. Stay behind barriers on the dam crest, keep clear of spillways and steep banks, and do not swim unless a signed beach or zone says otherwise. Water levels and shore edges change with the season — closed shoes help on mud and rock.
