Intro

Agios Neophytos is the cliff monastery inland from Paphos, a working community and a cave hermitage that people visit as a half-day from the coast.

Overview

Drive inland from Paphos; the last stretch is a hill road. The visit can include the monastery courtyard and, when open, the painted enclosure in the cliff. Modest dress, quiet voices, and posted hours. Do not assume every cave chamber is open. Summer heat is strong on the rock; mornings are easier. Park where other cars sit, and take rubbish with you. This is a Paphos church visit: Kato Paphos and Ktima mix tourist streets with living parishes; village churches sit a short drive inland. You typically arrive by car or on foot from a nearby stay. Summer days are busy near the harbour; village yards stay quieter. Parking is street and square space — walking the last stretch is normal. Take rubbish with you. Treat it as a working monastery: modest dress is the usual expectation — covered shoulders and knees — and voices stay low inside. Interior photography is often discouraged during services; follow signs and what the community asks on the day. Hours are whatever is posted at the gate. Do not assume a ticket desk or a guaranteed open nave.
