Community Guidelines

Rules for using Cyprus4People: what you may publish, how you treat others, and what ESMIRA may do if those rules are broken.

The Community Guidelines were last updated on August 13, 2026

These Community guidelines (the Guidelines) set out how you use Cyprus4People: what you may publish, how you treat other people, and what ESMIRA LTD may do if the rules are broken.

They do not replace the Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy, the Cookie Policy, or the Moderation policy. They sit alongside those documents. If there is a conflict about contractual rights, obligations, or personal data, the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy prevail, in that order. These Guidelines prevail over house rules inside a Space, a group, or a card.

The version that counts is the one marked current in the Legal Hub. By using Cyprus4People you accept these Guidelines.

1. Who runs the service

Cyprus4People is operated by ESMIRA LTD, a Cyprus company (HE431241), of Lambrou Katsoni, Flora Court, Block A, Office 204, 2nd Floor, 8011 Paphos, Cyprus. Contact: mail@esmiraweb.com · +357 94 090 540. Brand site: https://cyprus4people.com.

Cyprus4People is a digital hub for people who live, work, visit, or do business in Cyprus and the region. You can browse and publish cards (people, businesses, places, events, jobs, talent, property, vehicles, classifieds, services, Spaces, and the like), interact (comments, reviews, messages, Spaces), and use support tools.

ESMIRA provides the platform. It is not a party, unless the Terms say otherwise, to deals between members (sales, lettings, professional mandates, hiring, clinical care, paid events, and so on). User content is not legal, medical, tax, or financial advice from ESMIRA.

ESMIRA has no duty to monitor all activity in advance. It may still review, remove, restrict, or refuse content and accounts when it considers that necessary for these Guidelines, the Terms, the law, or the safety of the service.

2. Definitions

Unless the context requires otherwise:

  • Platform / service: Cyprus4People, related sites, apps, and tools.
  • Member: someone with an account. Visitor: someone using the service without an account, where that is allowed.
  • You / user: a member or a visitor, as the case may be.
  • Card: any public or restricted page or listing created on the platform (profile, business, place, organisation, Space, event, classified, property, vehicle, job, talent, article, ticket, and the like).
  • Content: text, images, video, files, links, metadata, messages, comments, reviews, reports, and anything else you upload, send, or display.
  • Space: a group, club, or similar discussion or affiliation area on the platform.
  • Staff: people authorised by ESMIRA to operate the service.

3. Scope

These Guidelines apply to:

  1. visitors and members;
  2. anyone who creates, curates, claims, or administers a card, including on behalf of an organisation;
  3. all content and all use of the service, including private messages, comments, reviews, Spaces, feeds, forms, and uploads;
  4. use from anywhere, if the content is intended for or visible on Cyprus4People;
  5. to a limited extent, off-platform conduct when it is closely tied to the service (for example threats against a member that started from a contact here, evasion of a measure, or an attempt to recreate a closed account).

If you publish for an organisation, you remain responsible for seeing that people acting for you follow these Guidelines.

4. Age

Cyprus4People is for adults (18 and over).

Do not open an account, create cards, or use member-only features if you are under 18. Do not create cards that present a minor as the owner, a professional, or a counterparty to an offer, except where the law allows it and the minor’s data is handled by someone with parental responsibility, without putting the child at risk.

If staff have reason to believe an account belongs to a minor, they may close it and delete or restrict related content, in line with the Terms and the Privacy Policy.

5. Principles

Cyprus4People serves a mixed community: residents, expats, families, professionals, businesses, visitors. The expected tone is a public, professional setting, not an anonymous forum.

In short we ask for:

  • respect for people and for other people’s reputations;
  • honesty about identity, cards, offers, and reviews;
  • usefulness: public content should describe something real, or an honest opinion;
  • lawfulness: nothing that is unlawful in Cyprus or, where relevant, in the European Union.

Disagreement is allowed. Personal attacks, fraud, and spam are not.

6. Identity, accounts, and authenticity

6.1 Accounts

  • Give truthful registration details for the fields the form requires.
  • Do not sell, lend, or hand over the account, except as the Terms allow (for example authorised staff managing a business card).
  • Do not dodge a suspension or closure by opening another account, using another identity, or having a third party act for you.
  • Do not use automation, scripts, or third-party services to open accounts, inflate visibility, or send bulk messages, unless an integration is expressly allowed.

6.2 Impersonation and other people’s cards

You must not:

  • pose as another person, a company, a public body, a brand, or Cyprus4People staff;
  • create an “official” card for someone you do not represent, or whose presence you have no right to manage;
  • take over, claim, or edit a card that is not yours;
  • use a name, photo, logo, or contact details in a way that misleads people about who you are or your relationship with a third party.

Parody or tribute, if ever allowed, must be unmistakably labelled as such and must not hijack contacts, reviews, or transactions.

6.3 Credentials and titles

Do not claim professional titles, professional-body memberships, licences, certifications, awards, partnerships, or employment you do not have. That applies in particular to doctors and other health professionals, estate agents, consultants, employers, and talent.

7. Cards and public content

Public cards are shop windows. Readers should be able to rely, within reason, on what they see.

  • Name, place, hours, prices, availability, photos, contacts, and description must be substantially true and kept up to date.
  • Photos must depict the subject of the card (venue, property, vehicle, person, event) in a way that is not misleading. Do not pass off stock or third-party images as the real thing if that deceives.
  • Do not publish fake cards to occupy visibility, test the market in an opaque way, or harm a competitor.
  • If an offer has expired, withdraw it or update it. Leaving an advert up as current when you know it is not is a breach.
  • Staff demo or sample content, if present, must not be copied as if it were your own business.

Sections of the platform (work, property, health, motors, events, and so on) may have extra rules. If they conflict, the stricter rule applies together with these Guidelines.

8. Reviews, comments, signals, and discussion

Reviews, comments, public signals, and similar contributions must rest on your own experience or on facts you can stand behind.

You must not:

  • post fake, swapped, bought, coerced reviews or ratings, or reviews written by someone who did not have the relationship described;
  • run coordinated campaigns to inflate or sink a card;
  • reveal unnecessary third-party data (a private address, documents, private messages) in a review;
  • use the public square to threaten, blackmail (“I’ll take the review down if…”), or dress up unfair competition as opinion.

Harsh criticism of a service, if honest and not unlawful, is not in itself a breach. Gratuitous insult, defamation, and dumping personal data are.

Do not take the law into your own hands with public accusations of crime when the proper route is a report to staff or to the authorities. You may describe what happened to you; do not turn the platform into a parallel trial.

9. Safety of people

You must not publish, send, or organise:

  • threats of violence or serious harm to a person or an identifiable group;
  • harassment, stalking, or persistent contact after a refusal or a block;
  • doxxing: spreading personal data (address, phone, documents, live location, school or family details) with the purpose or reasonably likely effect of intimidating, exposing, or harming;
  • encouragement of suicide, self-harm, or eating disorders, or instructions to that effect;
  • trafficking, exploitation, sexual extortion, so-called revenge porn, or intimate images shared without consent.

Content that documents news, a genuine local alert, or a call for help is judged in context. That is not a licence to expose victims or to recirculate illegal material.

If someone is in immediate danger, contact the authorities (in Cyprus: the police / emergency services). Staff are not a substitute for emergency response.

10. Protection of minors

In addition to the age rule in section 4:

  • any sexual content involving minors (people under 18) is strictly forbidden, including text, images, innuendo, roleplay, links, or solicitations. Zero tolerance. ESMIRA may report to the competent authorities and retain what the law requires;
  • do not sexualise, riskily identify, or locate minors;
  • do not use the platform to contact minors, or to promote services aimed at them in an inappropriate way;
  • if you see a concrete risk to a minor: open an Abuse Report ticket and, in an emergency, contact the authorities.

11. Hate, discrimination, harassment

You must not attack, degrade, or incite hatred or violence against a person or group on the basis of protected characteristics, including, by way of example, racial or ethnic origin, nationality, language, religion or belief, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, health status, or migrant or refugee status.

You must not:

  • use degrading stereotypes as an insult or as a call to exclude;
  • display symbols, slogans, or praise of organisations whose main purpose is hatred or unlawful violence, unless the context is clearly informational, historical, or critical, and not celebratory;
  • engage in repeated harassment, even where each message on its own might look mild.

It is not, in itself, forbidden to:

  • discuss politics, identity, religion, the history of Cyprus, or current affairs, even heatedly, so long as it does not slide into a personal attack or incitement;
  • describe discrimination you have experienced;
  • quote or criticise someone else’s hate speech in order to call it out, without reproducing the harm.

Staff assess context, reasonably inferred intent, and effect. Irony is not an automatic excuse.

12. Violence, weapons, crime

You must not use the platform to:

  • organise, promote, or instruct the commission of crimes;
  • traffic weapons, explosives, illegal substances, or stolen goods;
  • sell or promote illegal services (forged documents, document fraud, customs evasion, and the like);
  • display gratuitous graphic violence, torture, or content whose main purpose is shock, without a legitimate informational interest.

News reporting, public-interest debate, and community notices (for example a local alert) may describe serious facts, without operational instructions and without exposing victims.

13. Nudity, sexuality, adult services

Cyprus4People is not a platform for pornography or for promoting paid sexual services.

In particular you must not:

  • post pornography or explicit nudity that is not justified by a clear artistic, medical, or journalistic context that is not sexualising;
  • offer escorting, prostitution, cover “massage” services, and the like;
  • send sexual requests or offers in messages to strangers;
  • put fetish or sexual content on cards, in Spaces, or in comments visible to the mixed public of the platform.

A sober discussion of sexual health, rights, or the law is allowed if it does not become explicit material or solicitation.

14. Fraud, deception, spam, security

You must not:

  • run scams, pyramid schemes, get-rich-quick pitches, miracle investments, phishing, or identity theft;
  • impersonate Cyprus4People, ESMIRA, a payment provider, or a public body in order to obtain data or money;
  • distribute malware, ransomware, keyloggers, aggressive scraping, attacks, or attempts to bypass security measures;
  • spam: repeated messages, indiscriminate tags, promotional comments under other people’s cards, deceptive links, cloaking;
  • inflate followers, reviews, views, or ranking by artificial means;
  • harvest other members’ data in a covert way.

External links are allowed if they are relevant and not deceptive. A link that leads to an unexpected login, payment, or download is treated as an attempted fraud until shown otherwise.

15. Ads, transactions, work, property, health

The platform may host commercial offers. The person who publishes remains responsible for the lawfulness of the offer (licences, consumer law, anti-money-laundering, sector rules).

In any event you must not:

  • advertise goods or services you have no right to offer;
  • state prices, floor areas, conditions, or availability that are plainly false (bait);
  • ask for payments, deposits, or financial data in an opaque or pressuring way outside the channels the service provides, especially when the other party is a private individual you have only just met on the platform;
  • post fake jobs, unlawful charges to candidates, or “interviews” whose real purpose is to collect data or money;
  • publish health cards that promise unrealistic cures, push unauthorised treatments, or replace a clinical relationship with an aggressive sales pitch;
  • list vehicles, property, or goods of doubtful origin, or with altered identifiers.

ESMIRA may ask for clarification, documents, or a correction to a card. An unjustified refusal may lead to restriction or removal.

A deal struck between members is between them. Check the other party, the contract, and the payment. If you suspect fraud: Abuse Report, and where appropriate the authorities and your bank.

16. Messages, Spaces, feeds

Inbox, Spaces, comments, and feeds are not a free-for-all. These Guidelines apply in full.

  • No message bombing, promotional chains, or contact after a block.
  • No unsolicited advertising in private messages, unless there is a pre-existing relationship or a contact tool the card itself provides (for example a quote request).
  • House rules of a Space are additional; they do not waive these Guidelines. If they conflict, these Guidelines and the Terms prevail.
  • Space admins must moderate in good faith and must not use the Space for hate, fraud, or exploitation. Staff may step in even if the admin does not.

17. Third-party rights (intellectual property)

Do not upload photos, text, video, logos, music, or trade marks you have no right to use.

  • If you are the author or you have a licence, keep a record. Staff may ask to see it.
  • A credible infringement report may lead to removal pending verification.
  • Do not use the Cyprus4People or ESMIRA name, or the service’s graphics, in a way that suggests partnership, endorsement, or official origin, unless you have written permission.

These Guidelines do not replace legal procedures on copyright or trade marks. The rights holder may also act elsewhere.

18. Other people’s personal data

Do not publish other people’s personal data (identity documents, tax numbers, medical files, bank statements, private conversations, contact lists) without a lawful basis (for example consent, a visible contractual relationship, or a prevailing legal interest).

Health data, biometric data, and data about offences or about minors need particular care: as a rule they do not belong on a public card or in a public comment.

How ESMIRA processes your data is set out in the Privacy Policy. For access, rectification, erasure, or objection, use Data Request in Account: you can request a copy of your data, or delete your account and data. Not a ticket, and not a public comment.

19. Use of the platform and interference

You must not:

  • try to access other people’s accounts, cards, or systems;
  • probe, flood, or alter the service (flooding, unauthorised systematic scraping, abusive reverse engineering);
  • bypass paywalls, plan limits, filters, or staff measures;
  • use the service to build a competing product on other people’s data without permission;
  • frame, iframe, or copy substantial parts of the service in breach of the Terms.

APIs or exports, if and when offered, must be used within the documentation and the Terms.

20. How to report

20.1 Breaches of these Guidelines or illegal content

Open an Abuse Report ticket. Give, as far as you can: the URL or card, what happened, why you think it breaks these Guidelines or the law, and any useful evidence (screenshots, dates). Reports made in bad faith, or repeated and unfounded, may themselves be a breach.

20.2 Personal data

Use Data Request in Account.

20.3 Account, bugs, payments

Use the ticket types provided (Account Issue, Bug Report, Monetization Issue, and the like). Those are not the channel for taking down content you dislike: that is Abuse Report.

20.4 Authorities

ESMIRA cooperates with the authorities within the law. If the matter is a crime or an emergency, report it to the proper body as well. A ticket to staff does not replace a police report.

20.5 What not to do

Do not organise pile-ons, blacklists, raids on a card, or punitive review campaigns. Block if you need to, report, and move on.

21. Consequences

If staff believe, in good faith, that you have broken these Guidelines, the Terms, or the law, ESMIRA may, in a proportionate way and without prior notice when urgency or the law requires it:

  • refuse, hide, demote, or delete content;
  • limit features (messages, publishing, visibility);
  • suspend or close accounts;
  • refuse new cards or the claim of existing cards;
  • report to the authorities;
  • keep copies for legal duties, disputes, or security.

Detail on criteria, timing, notices, and internal appeals: the Moderation policy in the Legal Hub. These Guidelines say what you must not do; the Moderation policy says how staff intervene.

A platform measure does not decide a civil or criminal case between private parties. Conversely, an order from an authority may require ESMIRA to take broader steps.

22. Limitations (cross-reference)

To the extent the Terms and applicable law allow, ESMIRA does not guarantee that every breach will be seen or sanctioned, or that the service will be free of unpleasant content. You use the service at your own risk as regards dealings with other users.

Nothing in these Guidelines limits mandatory consumer rights or ESMIRA’s legal duties (including, where it applies, the EU digital-services framework).

23. Changes

ESMIRA may update these Guidelines. The current version is the one marked as such in the Legal Hub, with its effective date. Earlier versions, if archived, remain available for history and no longer govern conduct after they are replaced.

For material changes ESMIRA may give notice by the means set out in the Terms (for example an in-product notice or email). Continuing to use the service after the new version takes effect counts as acceptance of the current version, to the extent the law allows.
