Discover is why Cyprus4People is not “just another listings site.” It is the island’s living catalogue: the people, businesses, places, and communities you can meet, follow, and choose — arranged so you find what matters to you, not so you scroll an endless wall.
Why it exists
Whether you have just arrived in Cyprus or have lived here for years, the questions tend to be the same: Who is here? Where do I eat? Who can I trust? Where do I meet people like me?
Without one clear place, answers stay scattered — Google, Facebook groups, word of mouth, forgotten PDFs. Discover answers one question, and it matters:
“What and who is there in Cyprus that is relevant to me?”
It is not the newspaper (that is Agora / Magazine). It is not “what’s on tonight” (that is The Pulse). It is not the quick classifieds board (Babylon). Discover is the platform’s social and commercial map: lasting presence, profiles you can read, compare, save, and follow.
How you open it (and why there is no single /discover/ page)
In the main menu you will find Discover. It does not open one magic archive. It is a hub that groups dedicated archives — each with its own job.
Verified on stage: under Discover you typically see, in this order,
People · Businesses · Organisations · Places · Doctors · Spaces · Curations.
Each item opens its own catalogue (cards, filters, sorting). Someone looking for a doctor is not lost among restaurants; someone looking for a group does not confuse a map pin with a community.
How the catalogue works (a three-step model)
Discover is easier once you keep three levels in mind — they stay the same everywhere:
- The archive — the list for one type (for example every business at
/businesses/). Here you use Filter results, Order By, often Reset filters?, and a map where it makes sense.
- The card — the “calling card” in the list: title, quick cues (sector, area, chips), sometimes quick actions.
- The single profile — the full page: story, contacts, hours, gallery, relationships (branches, stewards, featured activities…), and discussion where the product provides it.
You are not browsing random posts. You are stepping into presence — businesses, people, places — built to stay and grow over time.
Header Quick Search (CTRL+K) is a different tool: it helps you find things fast across the whole platform. Filters inside a Discover archive refine that catalogue. For the Businesses click-by-click path, see How to search and filter Businesses.
What makes Discover different (what stands out)
- Presence, not throwaway ads — a Business or Place does not “expire” like a classified; it grows with photos, FAQs, hours, and relationships.
- Types with a clear job — every listing type has a role; nothing is a generic “card for everything.”
- Orientation for seekers — sectors, place types, medical specialties, themes on curations: filters that speak the language of exploration.
- Light personalisation — Discover does not treat everyone the same. Topics, Interests, and Best for help the platform (and you) adapt to who you are and what you need — from a family on holiday to a relocator, from a hobby to a concrete need. Here it is enough to know that possibility exists; the short overview Topics, Interests, and Best for — how they work goes one step further.
- Relationships between listings — chains and branches, organisations that steward a Place, a Doctor’s activities, lists that point to other listings: Discover is a network, not a flat directory.
- Trust and care — editorial status, place claim/stewardship, doctor profiles distinct from clinics: the catalogue has to be something you can take seriously.
A tour of Discover: what it includes (in order)
Walk the rooms of the catalogue below. By the end you should know what to look for where — and why that room exists.
1. People — the community’s people
Menu: People · Archive: /profiles/ Listing: Profile (product area Profile, surfaced under Discover).
This is the person profile: who you are in the community — not a professional CV (that is Talent in WorkScout) and not a commercial business (Business). It is how people recognise each other, follow, message, and belong — the human fabric without which the rest of the catalogue stays cold.
Publish or update: Profile form (/dashboard/profile-form/).
2. Businesses — commercial activity
Menu: Businesses · Archive: /businesses/
The public home of anyone who sells, hosts, repairs, or serves: shop, studio, restaurant, rental, agency. Here you tell who you are, which sector you work in, hours, contacts, photos — and you can grow (menus, FAQs, languages, locations).
Useful behind-the-scenes: a Business can stand alone or belong to a chain (hub + branches), so Limassol and Paphos are not two invented companies but locations under one brand. Do not confuse it with a Babylon ad (one-off sale/rental) or a Synergy Company (international B2B desk).
3. Organisations — civic, public, non-profit
Menu: Organisations · Archive: /organisations/
Here live the organisations that are not a typical commercial shopfront: municipalities, authorities, associations, institutions. They carry a public or collective role.
Useful behind-the-scenes: an Organisation is often the steward of a Place — the body that stands behind or presents a garden, a town hall, a civic pin. Without that split, public places would blur into commercial storefronts.
4. Places — places to live and visit
Menu: Places · Archive: /places/
Pins and stories of places: beaches, parks, buildings, city spots. They are not “the group” and not “the shop”: they are the where on the island’s map.
Useful behind-the-scenes: stewardship and claim — who presents the place matters, because a serious Place is more than a pretty marker.
5. Doctors — health professionals
Menu: Doctors · Archive: /doctors/
Personal clinical profiles: specialty, background, how to find them. Distinct from a clinic Business (the facility and its hours) and from WorkScout Talent (the jobs market).
Alongside the profile sit Doctor activities (/doctor-activities/): publications, conferences, campaigns, materials — professional highlights linked to the doctor (Featured tab on the profile). They are not calendar events (The Pulse) and not personalised medical advice: they are the public showcase of what the professional brings forward.
6. Spaces — homes for groups and communities
Menu: Spaces · Archive: /spaces/
A Space is the group’s home: rules, wall, join, contacts. It can be tied to a district (local), to the whole island, or “Cyprus-connected” (diaspora, relocation, itineraries) — always with Cyprus at the centre, not generic clubs for other countries.
Do not confuse it with a Place (map pin) or a Curation (a curated list of listings).
7. Curations — lists that guide discovery
Menu: Curations · Archive: /curations/ (listing type in ops: Collection)
Curated lists — “best terraces in Limassol,” “family-friendly beaches,” “shops of the month.” They do not replace listings: they tell them together, by intent. They can be local (area + map) or thematic across the island.
This is the “human guide” inside Discover: when you do not know the name yet, but you know what you are looking for.
What Discover is not (useful boundaries)
| If you want… |
Go instead to… |
| Stories, reportage, series |
Agora → Magazine (/magazine/) |
| Events, reports, “what’s happening now” |
The Pulse |
| Classic ads, motors, property, spot services |
Babylon |
| Talent and job offers |
WorkScout |
| International desks / companies |
Synergy (Company) |
| Product help, tickets, roadmap |
Support (Docs, Tickets, …) |
These worlds talk to each other (an Event can link to a Business; a Collection can include a Place), but the job stays distinct: Discover is the catalogue of presence — not the moment’s feed, and not the throwaway marketplace.
Who publishes — and why it is worth it
Discover only works if the listings exist. In short:
| You want to show… |
Publish as… |
| Yourself in the community |
Profile / People |
| Your commercial activity |
Business |
| An organisation / association |
Organisation |
| A place |
Place (with stewardship where needed) |
| Your clinical practice |
Doctor (+ activities) |
| A group / community |
Space |
| A curated list |
Curation / Collection |
Typical forms live under /dashboard/…-form/ (e.g. Profile, Business). Step-by-step detail belongs in how-tos; here what matters is the why: publishing in Discover means joining the catalogue people use to find their way in Cyprus — not “dropping a link somewhere.”
Closing — the map in one breath
Discover is Cyprus4People’s catalogue hub. From the menu you open dedicated archives:
- People — people
- Businesses — commercial activity (including chains and branches)
- Organisations — civic and non-profit
- Places — places
- Doctors — health professionals (+ featured activities)
- Spaces — homes for groups
- Curations — lists that guide discovery
If you understand why each exists and how they connect, you understand Discover.
